Omega Beta Iota
Omega Beta Iota (OBI), the National Osteopathic Political Advocacy Honor Society, was established in 2007 to recognize and promote the vital role that osteopathic medical students and professionals play in shaping healthcare policy and contributing to the broader U.S. political landscape. Founded on the belief that future physicians must not only heal at the bedside but also lead in the halls of government, OBI honors those who demonstrate exceptional commitment to advocacy, civic engagement, and leadership in health policy.

Induction into OBI is a distinguished achievement, awarded to osteopathic medical students and mentors who have demonstrated excellence in political involvement, legislative advocacy, and public service. Members of OBI are actively engaged in grassroots organizing, policy education, and representation at major advocacy events, including the American Osteopathic Association’s annual “DO Day” on Capitol Hill. Through their efforts, OBI inductees amplify the voice of the osteopathic profession, advance meaningful policy reforms, and inspire the next generation of physician-advocates.

OBI is supported and sustained through the Osteopathic Political Action Committee (OPAC), whose investment in advocacy leadership ensures that osteopathic students and professionals are equipped to influence the future of healthcare at every level. This partnership reinforces a shared commitment to elevating the profession through education, engagement, and political action.
